The Lisbon Valley Mining Company, LLC

In 2005 the Lisbon Valley Mine was the first new copper mine in the United States in 10 years. The mine is wholly owned through Lisbon Valley Mining Company LLC, a subsidiary of Lisbon Valley Holdings LLC. There are three main deposits, from north to south: Sentinel, Centennial, and GTO, of which Centennial is the largest. Reserves and Resources from these three deposits total about 60 million short tons at a grade of about 0.50% copper as of the end of 2005.

MSHA  Awards - 2009

Robert Frayser, General Manager, and Bruce Swenson, Safety/HR Manager, traveled to Reno Nevada to accept two safety awards for the Lisbon Valley Mine.

Lisbon Valley Mining Co., LLC was notified in September 2009 that they were receiving two awards from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) for their outstanding 2008 safety performance.

The first award was the Sentinels of Safety Award for outstanding safety performance in a mill preparation plant. The second award was the top honor “ Safest Mine” for the Rocky Mountain District of MSHA in the Large Metal Mine category .

The Rocky Mountain District covers nine states including Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming. Both awards are based on injury rate, inspections, exposure hours, and numerous other performance guidelines. The Lisbon Valley Mine recently went 690 days without a lost time accident. These awards represent the dedication; hard work; and overall safety performance of all our employees at the Lisbon Valley Mine.
